Symbol of the Moravian-Silesian Region

Description

Four-square shield:
  1. Gold field with Silesian eagle - the symbol of the historical silesian municipal classification of larger part of the Region
  2. Blue field with Moravian eagle - the symbol of the historical Moravian municipal classification of smaller part of the Region
  3. Blue field with the symbol of residential town of the Moravian-Silesian Region Ostrava - there is a hopping silver horse with gold saddle and red blanket on the green grass and a gold rose with a red ovary and green calyx foliole
  4. Separated field (derivation of the symbol of Tesin's princedom and the symbol of Opava's princedom): the left side is devided into red and white parts, there is a half of dextroverted gold eagle with red armour on the right side

The symbol of the Region was approved by the Region Assembly of the Moravian-Silesian Region on 28th March 2002 and officially handed over by the Chairperson of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on 9th January 2003.


The Moravian-Silesian Region's emblem

The elements of the uniform visual style of the Region are the region's emblem, the print creating the sign "Moravskoslezsky kraj" and blazonry.

Description
The emblem is composing a hermetic shape symbolizeing the region as an independent entity, a symbol of the mountain with television transmitter common for Lysa hora also Praded, the highest tops in the region, and a wavy zone in the middle of the emblem having more meanings -- the river, the motor highway, the way to prosperity. Integral part of an emblem is a text creating the sign "Moravskoslezsky kraj".

Application of emblem
The emblem of the region, the print of the sign "Moravskoslezsky kraj" and the blazonry are using:

  • on graphics information system inside the building of the Regional Authority
  • on the presentation objects and materials of advertising character

Language mutations:
Textual part is compiled in several language's alternates:

  • in English ("Moravian-Silesian Region")
  • in German ("Mahrisch-Schlesische Region")
  • in French ("Region Moravie-Silesie")
  • in Polish ("Okreg Morawsko-Slaski")

Protection against misuse:
The emblem of the region is as amended by Act no. 137/1995 Sb., about trademarks, in version of subsequent regulations, a trademark, which is registred into the registr of the Industrial Property Office. The Moravian-Silesian Region becomes an exclusive holder by the registration of the trademark. Application of the emblem and other parts of the uniform visual style of the region without written agreement of the President's Office, i. e. without written agreement of holder, will the region treat as a misuse and damage it's rights resulting from the Act no. 137/1995 Sb., about trademarks, in version of subsequent regulations and will proceed accord with it.
