Upon coming to the cloakroom miners changed to mining clothes. Every worker had two chains allocated (in the mining jargon called “hooks”), one for the clean clothes and the other for the dirty working clothes. Mining clothes in the chain cloakrooms were hang in the area which was well vented and in winters even heated so that they could easily dry.
