Štramberk Trúba

Štramberk Castle (the national cultural monument) – the remains of the castle with unknown origin are a typical barrier fort of the first half of the 14th century. It is connected with regional nobles´ administration of the territory or a defence of the country border. The latest works consider the noble family of Benešovics, or Olomouc Přemysl Princes to be the builders of the castle after 1200. The Gothic castle tower with the premises and adjacent parts of fortifications (the national cultural monument), which is called “Trúba” (or popularly “Kulatina”) forms a striking dominant of the town which became its owner in 1994. In the premises of the castle there is a “Jaroňkova Shelter Hut”(formerly “U Mědínků”, the national cultural monument) – the current appearance of the timbered house adjacent to the castle tower at the place of the upper palace is from 1925. The construction with folk elements was designed by Bohumír Jaroněk, a painter. The challey of MUDr. Adolf Hrstka (formerly Rašín´s challey, the national cultural monument) – a tourist challey, a timbered log-house from 1925 at the place of the lower palace. During the construction a secured entrance to the heart of the Chateau Hill and a cave called “Slámova sluj” was found in the foundations.
