Fryštát v Karviné Chateau

The chateau is furnished with a valuable set of noble furniture, art and historic collections and decorated with unique ceiling paintings. The local chateau library Solca represents a unique treasure and belongs to the most important library funds in our Republic. In history, the premises were visited by many prominent figures of the European aristocracy, e.g. the successor of the Austrian imperial throne Franz Ferdinand d´Este, the royal Prince Rudolph or Wilhelm II, the German Emperor. Marie von Wallersee, the niece of Empress Elisabeth, who married Jiří Larisch who was later connected with a disgracefully known tragedy in Mayerling, at which Prince Rudolph died, lived in the chateau for a certain time.
