Regional Assembly
The Regional Assembly is a self-government body entitled, under the Law, to submit bills to the Lower House of the Parliament, proposals to abolish legal regulations to the Constitutional Court, to issue generally binding regional decrees, to coordinate development on the region's territory, to approve master planning documents, to determine the extent of transport services to be provided on regional territory, to decide on international cooperations, to approve regional budget, to establish or abolish contributory organizations, etc.
The Moravian-Silesian Regional Assembly has 65 representatives convening in public meetings under the Law.

- Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM) - 11 mandates
- Christian and Democratic Union - Czechoslovak Peoples Party (KDU-CSL) - 5 mandates
